About Love Your Italy

Hi! We’re Michal and Kristine! We’ve lived in Italy and travelled extensively all over it, again and again, and now we want to share this love with you. We love Italy so much we even got married there although almost no one from our family and friends could come to the wedding!

Right now, we are writing about the Dolomites in Italy – already on our first trip there in 2016, we fell in love and kept coming back – again, again, and again.

So, you want to travel to Dolomites and you’re not sure about where to start your planning process? In that case, you’ve come to the right place!

Our mission is to help you explore the Dolomites and Italy and find what is the thing YOU love about them.

There is something in Italy for everyone

That’s why the name – love your Italy.

Whether you like the sea or the mountains, sweet or savoury, it’s there, and we’re going to help you get there.

And that’s why we’re here – to help you find your Italy

If you’ve gotten to this website, you’re ready to travel to the Dolomites, but you’re not sure where to start your planning.

You’ve always dreamed about travelling to Dolomites, but as soon as you start looking at the places to visit, you get confused.

Even if you’ve already chosen where to go, there’s still the itinerary, things to do, how to get around, where to stay, and what to pack?!

You’ve tried figuring it out on your own, but it just gets so confusing.

I understand, the Dolomites cover a huge area, and so diverse!

And that’s where we can help.

Our mission

As we said:

Our mission is to help you explore the Dolomites and Italy and find what is the thing you love about it

What makes us different from other bloggers is that since we can’t just drop everything – jobs, school etc. – to travel, we know how it is to try and squeeze everything in those two weeks of vacation or the long weekend.

Our itineraries for the places to visit are actually tried and tested – by us.

But if you want to change stuff around? No problem, we’ve got you covered! You get alternative things to do to choose from.

And we want to provide you with all the other things you need to know about travelling to the Dolomites, too.

Getting around? Check.
When to go? Check!
Packing, eating, swimming, hiking – check, check, check and check!

We want to help you love Italy just as much as we love it.

In short – why we blog about Italy

  • To help you plan your trip to the Dolomites or elsewhere in Italy
  • To show you the different places that are there
  • To make your vacation in Italy fun
  • And to show the 22-year-old me that travelling to Italy for the first time doesn’t have to be scary and confusing.

I truly believe that there is something in Italy for everyone and that you can find what you’re looking for

So why can you trust us? What’s our story?

Our year and a half living in Italy changed us

We lived in Northern Italy, in a little village called Sarnico. It’s in the Bergamo province by Lake Iseo – pretty much in the middle between Lake Como and Lake Garda.

Everyone who visited us called it paradise, and we couldn’t agree more.

Life in Italy is just different. It’s Dolce Vita, you know?

The people are friendly, the scenery is magnificent, and the food – incredible!

And another thing living in Italy did?

Teach us all we need to know about travelling in Italy.

But how did we end up living in Italy in the first place?

Well, Michal and I met in 2015 when working for an airline together. After some time, Michal got a job offer from a different airline, and we had to figure out where we’d move to.

One of the things we both wanted was to be based somewhere where we could easily get to both of our countries – Latvia and Slovakia.

And when we saw that Bergamo was an opportunity, we decided it was perfect!

Kristine’s first trip that she planned by herself was to Bergamo so Italy had a special place in her heart already.

And Michal, well, he had loved Italy for a long time before.

So it was really a no-brainer.

And while we lived in Italy…

Michal and I by Juliet's balcony in Verona. A lot of people looking at it and taking pictures. The house and balcony are made of stone and look old.

We explored so much of it!

Venice, Dolomites, Sardinia, Florence, Cinque Torri… and so many more places.

And even after moving away, we didn’t stop.

So how did we decide to start a blog for travelling to Italy?

Ever since the beginning of our relationship, we’ve travelled extensively all over the world, even though we’ve worked and studied full-time. To teach others how to do that, we created our first blog – Wanderlust Designers.

But when we started writing about Italy, we realized that Italy is just something that we can write and write and write about.

So it clicked, we know so much about Italy – we knew we had to help others like you travel all around it. And thus, Love Your Italy was born.

We sold the old blog, and now, we’re her!

And that’s the story

Travelling to Italy and living there completely changed our lives. And now we get to help you travel there, too.
