Resources

Planning a trip to the Dolomites can get quite tedious. There is so much information all around, and quite often, you get opposite advice from different sources.

So here I’ve compiled resources that we use to plan our trips.

Hotels

A modern wooden hotel with the name "Kolfuschgerhof" on the facade. There's a large golden deer statue on a rock near the entrance, with outdoor seating and mountains visible in the background.
  • Booking.com – Booking has great hotel options and good discounts, the more you book through them.
  • Italy Family Hotels – where we check kid-friendly hotels in Italy.

Quite often in the Dolomites, though, we’ll check the hotel’s website directly before booking through a third paryty.

Flights

  • SkyScanner is perfect for seeing what airlines fly to your destination. I love that they show “Whole Month” and “Everywhere” options to get the lowest prices on flights around the world.

For booking the flights, though, we generally go directly to the airline’s website. If something goes wrong, that’s the easiest way to deal with problems.

Activities

Two people are tandem paragliding on a sunny day over the scenic landscape of green fields, hills, and a small village in the Dolomites. They are wearing helmets and harnesses, and both appear to be enjoying the experience, with one holding a selfie stick to capture the moment.
Tandemflights Kronplatz – a tandem paragliding flight that I booked through GetYourGuide

For booking activities, we use either Viator or GetYourGuide. It assures us that the activity is legitimate, and you can also cancel it up to 24 hours before.

Miscallaneous

  • Revolut – I have a Revolut Metal plan, which gives me great advantages both when travelling and when we’re home.
  • Rentalcars and Discovercars – you need to use these for booking your car.
  • XCover – the travel insurance that I get through Revolut and can recommend. You must have travel insurance when travelling, it’s not really safe otherwise.
